Good Website Hosting

Web Hosting No Comments

The topic of website hosting is one that I hear over and over again. I have accounts at many hosting providers. Here is my overall strategy when it comes to hosting providers:

1) When you are initially setting up websites, ALWAYS get a provider that assigns different IP addresses for each of the domains you create. The banner below is for Host Excellence. If you go through my link (banner below), you will be helping me with the challenge as I plan to offer all my information and results for free and it won’t cost you anything. Having said that, I use them for new websites because the business unlimited plan is as low as $12.99/month for 16 websites EACH with their own IP address! For me, this is important because sometimes I use promotion methods that are a little aggressive and don’t want to get all my websites banned with an IP ban. I also use Hostgator to eventually move my established sites over. I do this because for around $24.99/month I get unlimited domains, albeit all on the same IP. Yes, you can buy IP addresses, but they will run you $3/month which could get expensive. Remember, when initially promoting websites, it is better that they all don’t show up with hundreds of new links each day pointing to the same IP address. OK, enough said.

2) Spread the love around. Remember, if all your websites are on a single server or even with a single host, there may come a time when everything disappears suddenly. Yep, it has happened to me so be smart and use a variety of hosts to protect yourself.

3) BACK EVERYTHING UP!!! Do yourself a favor and make sure you have database backups (if you have wordpress blogs like this one) and html file backups. Buy an encrypted memory stick for around $50 and store all your sites and databases and logins and put it in a safe place. Any computer can be damaged or stolen.

Well, that’s all for now regarding hosting. I hope that these tips were useful.
